Welcome to The Villages Motor Racing Fan Club website!
SHARING INTERESTS IN ALL FORMS OF MOTOR RACING
You are cordially invited to view the pages in our site, all of which have been designed to keep our members and interested parties up-to-speed (pun intended!) on who we are and what we do.
Our club is open to all Villages residents. Collectively, we are dedicated to providing a forum to share common interests in ALL forms of motor racing.
Besides many of us being NASCAR fans, we are equally interested in the local racing venues so prevalent here in Florida. The classes we watch range from Super Late Models to Go-Karts, NHRA dragsters, and motorcycles. The tracks we have been known to visit range from the 2.5-mile, high-banked asphalt Daytona International Speedway to the 1/4-mile, flat dirt Marion County Speedway.
Next Meeting - May 1
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, May 1 at Colony Cottage Recreation Center, going green at 7 p.m.
Our guest speakers will be club members Linda and Bill Samuels. We met Bill a year ago when he told us about his experiences on the crew of a Supermodified team in the Northeast, which eventually led to Bill and Linda teaming up to form their own Supermodified team.
We will first hear from Linda as she explains what she did to help start and support the team during its 10-year history.
Bill will introduce us to the Supermodifieds and their radical, off-set, hand-built design. The simple description is that Supermodifieds are lightweight racing machines with big, powerful engines.
We will watch a DVD of the Supermodifeds race at Oswego (NY) Speedway in August 2009. This $10,000-to-win race will be exciting to watch and their car … wait, we don't want to give away the finish.
Meetings are open only to club members, but Villages residents can join at the door. If you are interested, Click Here for more information.
Prediction Row 2024
KANSAS-- With only two races left to run in our 2024 spring segment, the predictors are running out of time to make things happen. A Kyle Busch win seals the deal for Warren to participate in the finals while a Kyle Larson win completely upsets the apple cart.
A Denny Hamlin or William Bryon win also shakes things up a bit. Should be fun to watch!
The top 3 predictors will advance to our Playoff Segment.
Kansas Predictions
- Warren Reynolds 1 win, 305 points - Kyle Busch - A two-time NASCAR champion with two CUP wins at Kansas; yet, he has not won this year.
- Gerry Greim 1 win, 276 points - Denny Hamlin - He's won in Kansas a lot and Toyotas seem to have the edge. Hope no tornados attend the race.
- Donna Gross 0 wins, 405 points - Kyle Larson - He has the motivation to win at Kansas speedway after the defeat at Dover by Denny Hamlin.
- Mike Petix 0 wins, 384 points - Kyle Larson - Kyle had a chance of winning in 2023, had Hamlin not put him in the wall. Revenge will be a win in 2024.
- Shel Larsen 0 wins, 370 points - Kyle Larson - Kyle always runs strong at this track. After last week's second place he will take home the checkered this week.
- Rick Almeida 0 wins, 336 points - William Byron - He has 3 wins already this year despite mechanical issues and penalties. Runs well here and will be looking for win 4.
